Parents and Students,
As we prepare for our first week of in-person classes, we want to go over several things with everyone in hopes of making this re-opening of school as safe as humanly possible.
1. Please understand that mask wearing is not debatable. We must protect each other, and remember - over 50% of our staff has either a pre-existing condition or a spouse or child with one, but they are eager to be back with students, so please be respectful with proper mask wearing at all times. The safer we are, the better chance we have of sustaining in-person school.
2. Please come to school every day with your Chromebook charged. Our school is over 50 years old and doesn’t have the plug-in capabilities to be charging a large number of computers all day. We also can’t have groups of kids huddled around one plug in area because of distancing rules, so please come to school with computers fully charged. Students will still be turning in most assignments virtually to reduce paper touching.
3. Several districts that have started before us are already dealing with mass quarantine situations. We are trying our best to avoid this, so we will be doing our best to social distance in our classes to avoid this scenario.
4. Teachers are required to have seating charts. This is not negotiable because we have to keep up with seating arrangements for contact tracing, so please be respectful of assigned seatings.
5. Students may be dropped off in the back parking lot starting no earlier than 7:30a.m. and should arrive no later than 8:10a.m. Students MUST have a temperature screen before entering the school. Students dropped off at McDonald’s must enter the designated front entrance and have a temperature screen before entering the building.
6. There can be no large group congregating before or after classes. Students will need to move from one class to the next. We know this is not ideal or what our students are used to, but it is a temporary must. We just want to reduce the chances of a quarantine or outbreak among students and staff.
7. Students that are being picked up will be released at 3:30 and exit through the rear entrance of the school. Students will not be permitted to ride another bus. We will not be accepting bus notes.
8. All visitors must use the side doors through the new safety vestibule, and all visitors must also wear masks.Temperature checks will be taken by front office staff, and anyone who has a temperature of 100.5 or greater will not be permitted to enter.
9. Any student who exhibits a temperature of 100.5 or greater will be isolated in a designated quarantine area and will need to be picked up.
10. Lastly, if you have a question or concern with anything, please contact the school directly instead of asking over social media and contributing to the spread of misinformation. This is going to be an adjustment for us all, and we assure you that we are doing everything we can to keep everyone safe, and we will be completely transparent with parents each step of the way.
Thank You!
