Students from W.R. Castle Elementary School’s Community Problem Solving Team made a big impact for several children here in Johnson County in 2017-2018.
The group, known as the “Dream Team,” raised money to provide beds for children in the area in need of a new one. This project was known around the school as “Project Snooze” and saw a great outpouring of support from the community. Several community members and organizations have made significant donations – including Chris Stapleton who has donated $5,000 to the cause. These students were able to put beds and linens into more than 100 homes for young people who were sleeping in substandard sleeping arrangements.
WR Castle's CmPS team won the State Championship In March and went on to be ranked International Runner Up in the category of Human Services in Lacrosse Wisconsin in June, 2018.
Dream Team members include Loralei Arms, Jacob Bowen, Adyson Burchett, Cole Butcher, Adara Campbell, Brannan Campbell, Logan Frazier, Kaylee Gibbs, Cain Grim, Brailyn Harless, Kaylyn McKenzie, Haylee Marsillett, Constance Martin, Lauren Trimble and Paxton Trimble.
They’re coached by Gaylena Burchett and Heather Campbell.
